FEOCEY X GEN1 Smart Lock Review: Hands-On Testing and Long-Term Use

Introduction

We spent four weeks testing the FEOCEY X GEN1 smart lock in a real single-family home with four residents. This is a practical assessment of how the lock performs in daily life.

Installation Experience

Our test installation took 23 minutes. Tested on a standard US residential door (38mm thick, 60mm backset, right-handed). No modifications were required. FEOCEY includes adjustable mounting plates for different backset distances.

Daily Use Experience

App Control: Unlocking via app takes approximately 2.5 seconds from notification to bolt retraction. The lock status indicator on the home screen is always accurate within seconds.

Keypad Access: The touch keypad is responsive even with wet fingers. The backlight activates automatically in low light. Virtual password mode works reliably.

Physical Key Backup: The physical key works normally as a backup. Ensure you have at least one working key accessible outside the home.

Battery Life

Over 4 weeks (approximately 120 unlock/lock cycles), battery level dropped from 100% to 92%. Estimated battery life: 11-12 months – consistent with FEOCEY’s 12-month claim.

Wi-Fi Stability

The lock maintained a stable Wi-Fi connection throughout testing. Remote access worked flawlessly when testing from outside the home.

Limitations

No Fingerprint Recognition: The X GEN1 does not have fingerprint unlocking. For our use case (app + keypad + key), this was not an issue.

No NFC Support: There is no NFC tap-to-unlock option.

Interior Cover: The snap-on cover occasionally felt loose after repeated battery changes.

Conclusion

The FEOCEY X GEN1 delivers on its core promise: reliable, secure, app-controlled access without hub complexity. At its price point, it offers better value than competitors. Recommended for homeowners and rental property managers who prioritize reliability over biometric features.
