Introduction
A smart lock is most powerful when it works as part of a connected home ecosystem. FEOCEY smart locks integrate with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit (via HomeBridge), Samsung SmartThings, and IFTTT. This guide covers the setup process and practical automation ideas for each platform.
Amazon Alexa Integration
Voice Commands Available
- “Alexa, lock the front door” – Locks the door immediately
- “Alexa, is the front door locked?” – Reports current lock status
- “Alexa, ask FEOCEY to lock the door” – Alternative phrasing
Note: For security reasons, voice unlock is not available through Alexa. You can only lock or query status via voice.
Alexa Routine Ideas
- Create a “Goodnight” routine that locks all doors and turns off lights when you say “Alexa, goodnight”
- Set up an announcement routine: when the door is unlocked after 10 PM, Alexa announces “Front door unlocked” through all speakers
- Link to doorbell: when someone rings your Ring doorbell, automatically unlock the door for expected visitors
Google Home Integration
Voice Commands
- “Hey Google, lock the front door” – Locks immediately
- “Hey Google, is the front door locked?” – Reports status
Google Home Automations
- Create a “Leaving Home” routine that locks all doors when your phone leaves a designated geographic zone
- Link to Nest Hello: when the doorbell recognizes a familiar face, unlock the door automatically
- Temperature-based unlock: if interior temperature exceeds 28°C, unlock the door for ventilation (with secondary confirmation)
IFTTT Applets
Popular FEOCEY IFTTT Integrations
- Weather-based: If a storm warning is issued for your area, lock your door automatically
- Calendar-based: When your calendar shows “Leave Office,” unlock the front door for your arrival
- Location-based: When the last family member leaves home (phone location), automatically lock the door
- Sensor-based: When a motion sensor detects movement at the front door after midnight, lock the door and send an alert
Security Considerations for Smart Home Integration
Each integration point is a potential attack surface. FEOCEY addresses this by:
- Using OAuth 2.0 for all third-party integrations
- Requiring re-authentication for integrations every 90 days
- Never transmitting actual access codes to third-party platforms – only lock/unlock commands
- Maintaining a dedicated integration log visible in the FEOCEY Home App
Troubleshooting Integration Issues
Alexa Cannot Find the Device
Try disabling and re-enabling the FEOCEY skill in the Alexa app. If the issue persists, unlink the FEOCEY account from Alexa completely and relink it.
Commands Have Long Delays
Cloud-based integrations (Alexa, Google Home) typically have 3-10 second response times. If you need instant response, use the FEOCEY Home App directly, which communicates over the local network.
