The Layered Security Model for Schools
Perimeter Security (Layer 1)
The outermost layer controls entry to the campus from outside. FEOCEY electronic gate locks and door readers at main entrances allow only authorized personnel (staff, students with valid credentials) to enter during school hours. All other visitors must check in at the reception desk.
Building Security (Layer 2)
Within each building, FEOCEY readers at interior doors allow administrators to restrict access to specific areas. Classrooms, labs, administrative offices, and storage rooms each have independent access control. A student who has access to the science building does not automatically have access to the chemistry lab.
Zone Security (Layer 3)
High-security zones such as server rooms, medical storage, and areas with expensive equipment require additional authentication beyond a simple code or badge. FEOCEY supports dual-factor authentication for these zones.
Student Access Management
Automatic Access Scheduling
Student access codes and badges are automatically valid only during scheduled school hours. If a student should only be in the building from 8 AM to 4 PM on school days, their access automatically expires outside those windows – no manual deactivation needed.
Emergency Lockdown Integration
FEOCEY access control integrates with school emergency systems. In a lockdown scenario, all doors can be locked simultaneously from the central dashboard with a single command. Individual doors can also be selectively locked to create filtered lockdown zones.
Pickup Authorization Verification
For elementary schools, the access control system integrates with the student pickup authorization list. When someone arrives to pick up a student, their badge or code is verified against the authorized pickup list before the release is approved. Unauthorized individuals cannot gain access to pickup areas.
Faculty and Staff Access
Role-Based Access Control
Staff members are assigned access levels based on their role. Teachers have access to their assigned classrooms and common areas. Administrative staff have access to office areas. Maintenance staff have access to utility rooms and storage. The access control system automatically enforces these role definitions.
Visitor Management Integration
Visitors receive temporary access codes or badges that are valid only for their scheduled appointment window. The system tracks exactly when each visitor entered and exited every area of the school. Visitor codes automatically expire at the end of the appointment – no manual revocation needed.
