FEOCEY Smart Lock Battery Life: What to Expect and How to Extend It

Introduction

Battery life is one of the most practical considerations when choosing a smart lock. The FEOCEY X GEN1 uses 3x CR123A batteries and is rated for up to 12 months of normal use. This article explains what affects battery life and how to maximize it.

Official Battery Specifications

The FEOCEY X GEN1 operates on 3 CR123A lithium batteries. This compact format was chosen for its stable voltage output and long shelf life, even at extreme temperatures.

Expected lifespan: Up to 12 months

What Drains Battery Faster?

Wi-Fi Signal Weakness

If your lock is far from your router or behind multiple walls, it will work harder to maintain a connection, which accelerates battery drain. Consider a Wi-Fi extender if your signal is weak near the door.

Cold Weather

CR123A batteries lose capacity in temperatures below 32°F (0°C). If you live in a cold climate, keep this in mind during winter months. Lithium batteries still outperform alkaline in cold conditions.

Frequent App Checks

Refreshing the app every few minutes keeps the connection alive but uses more power. Lock and unlock as needed rather than repeatedly opening the app to “check” status.

How to Extend Battery Life

  • Use the Auto-Lock feature — Set the lock to automatically engage after 30 seconds of inactivity. This reduces unnecessary motor runs.
  • Keep firmware updated — FEOCEY releases firmware updates that often include power optimization fixes.
  • Use high-quality batteries — Brand-name lithium batteries (Duracell, Energizer) provide more consistent voltage than generic brands.
  • Position your router well — A strong, stable Wi-Fi signal reduces the lock’s connection effort.

When to Replace Batteries

The FEOCEY Home App sends a low-battery alert at 20% and again at 10%. When you see the alert, replace batteries within 1-2 weeks. Carry a spare set of CR123A batteries so you are never caught unprepared.

What Happens When Batteries Die?

If the batteries die before you replace them, the lock includes a standard keyhole. Use the provided physical key as a backup. After replacing the batteries, the lock resumes normal smart functionality immediately.
